Barley is not just a crop in Ladakh; it is part of everyday food, culture, farming identity, and community resilience. Tsampa, made from roasted barley, has supported families through harsh winters, long journeys, and changing seasons.
The Tsampa & Barley Cluster helps bring this traditional grain into a modern livelihood and product system. Women-led SHGs and local producer families are supported to clean, roast, grind, package, and present barley-based products in a way that respects tradition while improving quality, hygiene, branding, and market access.
